【Product Overview】

Despite its small size—with a blade length of just 12 mm and a blade thickness of 2 mm—it is capable of cutting a variety of materials, from thin materials such as paper to thicker materials, as well as leather and cord.

Please note that the Dagr Knife is designed with a relatively thick blade, so it is not as sharp as a typical knife.

However, this thicker blade provides excellent durability and greatly reduces the risk of breakage. In addition, the edge can be restored by sharpening it with a standard sharpening stone.

The cap can be attached to the back of the knife during use, helping to prevent it from being lost.

【Material】

The Dagr Knife is made from Grade 5 Titanium, a premium material widely used in luxury watches and the aerospace industry. Unlike commercially pure titanium, which has a darker gray appearance, Grade 5 Titanium has a finish that is closer in color to stainless steel. With a Vickers hardness of approximately 300, it is slightly harder than typical stainless steel and offers twice the hardness of pure titanium.

【The Story Behind the Creation of the Dagr Knife】

In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic spread across the world, severely impacting many manufacturing businesses.

A small machine shop town in Massachusetts, USA, was no exception. Many of these workshops had been operating for more than 50 years.

“If nothing is done, the skills and craftsmanship that these local machinists have developed over decades could be lost.”

Seeing the situation worsen day by day, Dave Raithel and his son Calvin Raithel, who operated a retail business in Massachusetts, began asking themselves, “What can we do to help our local craftsmen?”

The result of that effort was the creation of the Dagr Knife.

The Dagr Knife received support from more than 1,300 backers worldwide on Kickstarter, one of the largest crowdfunding platforms in the United States, earning praise and recognition from supporters around the globe.

The Dagr Knife project was originally launched to support local metalworking craftsmen. However, during the Kickstarter campaign, its creator, Dave, sadly passed away after a two-month battle with cancer.

Despite the loss of his father, Calvin overcame his grief and successfully completed the project.

As production has ended, this is a unique item that may never be available again.

Each Dagr Knife is carefully crafted by skilled artisans from small local machine shops, combining traditional craftsmanship with exceptional attention to detail.
